Actually it was weekend in Burney but the title was too much to resist! Alright, truth be told, it was only Saturday. With Grandpa Dave and Grandma Stephanie in tow, we decided to escape the heat and head to the Burney Falls. With the top down on the Jeep and clear blue skies overhead we made the 50 minute trek to check out what could very well be the most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen! We took advantage of the hiking trail that led from the top of the falls to the bottom. Given that the whole "being at one with nature" isn't really my thing, I actually did feel like an adventurer - something I voiced to my husband (much to his dismay!) repeatedly.
With the sun on our backs and the wind in our hair - we headed back into town to celebrate the 4th of July. Because of the insane smoke conditions from all of the fires this year, the 4th of July came late and landed on August 30th. As is our tradition, we watched the fireworks surrounded by great food, fantastic company and the knowledge that we get to do it all again next year!

Looks like you all had a great time. I'm so proud of you for enjoying the whole 'nature' thing! You have given me hope, we are going there for a field trip soon, I was worried!
Love the title of the blog. Was that your first time to Burney Falls? Enjoyed meeting your dad and step-mom and seeing the whole Stephens family last night!
What beautiful pictures! & a great idea to beat the heat! Was that the first time that you had ever gone up there? I love going up there. We actually went camping up in that area a few years ago. It was a great family weekend! (Actual 4th of July weekend) An old fashioned parade & fireworks & a nice camping area around Lake Britain (?)
